The History of the Lakers

The Lakers were innovated in 1947 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and were first called the Minneapolis Lakers. In their early times, the platoon was a dominant force in the NBA, winning five crowns in their first 12 seasons. Led by stars similar to George Mikan and Jim Pollard, the Lakers were a model of thickness in the 1950s.

In 1960, the Lakers moved to Los Angeles, where they've been grounded ever ago. The platoon plodded in their first many times in LA, but in 1972 they eventually broke through and won their first crown since moving to the West Coast.
